Nearly 10,000 bedbugs were captured in one test. |
1. Dr. John F. Anderson of the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station tested NightWatch prototypes for over one year. His many months of lab tests indicate that an infestation of 5 male and 5 female bedbugs has a 99.98% chance of detection by the NightWatch over a period of 7 days. In an extremely infested multi-unit public housing facility, around 10,000 bedbugs were captured — after professional chemical and steam treatments were applied, according to Dr. Anderson. a trap baited with CO2, heat and a scent lure caught 15. This is after the 12 bed bugs found in the visual inspection were removed. |
2. In other laboratory tests, the effectiveness of CO2, heat, and scent lures was tested, alone and in combination. The results: In a small area test, CO2 and one or more of the other lures caught 86.7% of the bed bugs. In a larger area, a trap with all 3 caught 57% of the bugs in one night, (despite the fact that the bugs only eat every 7 to 10 days). In a bug infested apartment, a visual inspection found 12 bed bugs that were removed. Subsequently, a trap baited with CO2, heat and a scent lure caught 15. This is after the bed bugs found in the visual inspection were removed. "we had over 50 live bedbugs in the trap even after having treated the room with traditional methods." |
3. David James, the SEC region manager for Forshaw Distribution, Inc. of Charlotte, NC, a large pest control firm, conducted a recent field trial using NightWatch in a high-rise infested with bedbugs. "By Monday morning, we had over 50 live bedbugs in the trap even after having treated the room with traditional methods. I was very impressed with our results. |
